At the beginning of 2014, the Child Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS) was introduced, which provided $1000 over a 2 year period for eligible children to receive dental treatment in a private practice.
Since this time, we have seen a number of children that have benefitted greatly from the scheme, as necessary treatment such as checkups, cleans, xrays and fillings were done. And what’s more, because at Riverina Smiles we bulk bill this service, it was all done at no cost to the family. As we are coming close to the end of 2015, this benefit will end. At this stage it is anticipated that it will commence again in 2016, resetting to $1000.
As per private health funds, if the benefit is not used this year, you lose it. That means you could let up to $1000 of free dental treatment for each of your children disappear!!!!
If you haven’t used your child dental benefit, or even if you aren’t sure if you’re eligible, let us know. We can phone medicare on your behalf and check if you are eligible, or what the remaining balance is.
As we close in on the end of 2015, it may be difficult to get everyone seen, so don’t wait for the mad rush in December when you will no doubt have more exciting things to worry about, and get in touch with us now!
If you’ve used your benefit, we’d love to help anyone else you know that may not have done so. Please don’t hesitate to pass this message and our details on to them.
